The Reading Room Will provide ideal atmoshphere for the student to concentrate on study or to meet similar stream students to have discussions on their subject.

ભાજપમાં અડવાણી પછી નરેન્દ્ર મોદી વડા પ્રધાનપદના દાવેદાર : લોર્ડ મેઘનાદ

ચરોતરના પેટલાદના વતની પરંતુ છેલ્લાં ૭૦ વર્ષથી ઇંગ્લેન્ડમાં રહેતા અને ત્યાંની લંડન સ્કુલ ઓફ ઇકોનોમિકમાં પ્રોફેસર તરીકે ફરજ બજાવતા લોર્ડ મેઘનાદ દેસાઇએ ગુજરાતીમાં ખુલ્લા મને વાત કરતા જણાવ્યું કે, ગોધરાકાંડ ગુજરાત માટે કાળી ટીલી સમાન છે તેમાં કોઇ બેમત નથી. આમ છતાં નરેન્દ્ર મોદી એક સારા વહીવટકાર અને પ્રામાણિક વ્યકિત છે તેમાં શંકાને કોઇ સ્થાન નથી. ભાજપમાં લાલકૃષ્ણ અડવાણી પછી નરેન્દ્ર મોદી વડાપ્રધાનપદના દાવેદાર હોવાનું તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું.

• તાતા જેવા ઉદ્યોગપતિ સિંગુરમાં ઉદ્યોગ ન સ્થાપી શકે તેવું વાતાવરણ સર્જાવું નહીં જોઇએ
• મોદી સારા વહીવટકાર અને પ્રમાણિક વ્યક્તિ, ગુજરાતનો વિકાસ યોગ્ય દિશામાં

આઇઆઇએમમાં ચાલતા કોન્ફલ્યુઅન્સ અંતર્ગત શહેરમાં આવેલા લોર્ડ મેઘનાદ દેસાઇએ એક ખાસ મુલાકાતમાં જણાવ્યું કે,’હું જયાં રહું છું ત્યાંના વાતાવરણને અનુરૃપ બની જીવું છું અને ટીકાટિપ્પણી પણ વિનાસંકોચે કરું છું. ૨૦૦૪માં મેં પ્રથમ વખત કહ્યું હતું કે, ભાજપમાં નરેન્દ્ર મોદી અડવાણી પછીના વડાપ્રધાનપદના દાવેદાર છે.’ રાજકીય પક્ષોની આર્િથક નીતિ બાબતે અભિપ્રાય વ્યક્ત કરતાં તેમણે કહ્યું કે, ‘કોંગ્રેસ કરતાં ભાજપની આર્િથક નીતિ ઘણી સારી છે.’ જો કે તેમણે આગામી જાન્યુઆરી માસમાં યોજાનારી વાઇબ્રન્ટ સમીટ પર આર્િથક મંદીની કેવી અસર રહેશે તે અંગે કોઇ ટિપ્પણી કરી ન હતી.

રતન તાતાના નેનો પ્રોજેક્ટ અંગે સિંગુરમાં બનેલી ઘટનાઓ વિશે દુઃખ વ્યકત કરતાં તેમણે કહ્યું કે, ‘દેશમાં આવું વાતાવરણ ન હોવું જોઇએ. તાતા જેવા ઉદ્યોગપતિ આ દેશમાં ઉદ્યોગ સ્થાપી ન શકે તે વાત આઘાતજનક કહેવાય. જો કે તેનાથી ગુજરાતને ફાયદો થયો છે તે અલગ વાત છે પરંતુ જે રીતે તેમને સિંગુર છોડવું પડયું તે અયોગ્ય છે. દેશમાં વિકાસલક્ષી અને ઉદ્યોગલક્ષી વાતાવરણ નહીં રહે તો દેશનો વિકાસ થશે નહિ.’ ગુજરાતમાં વિકાસ અંગે તેમણે કહ્યું કે,’ગુજરાત છેલ્લાં ૧૦૦ વર્ષથી આગળ છે. કારણ કે ગુજરાતીઓમાં જન્મજાત બિઝનેસના ગુણો છે.

નેનોના કારણે ગુજરાતનો વિકાસ થશે તેમ કહેવું ભૂલ ભરેલું છે. ગુજરાતનો વિકાસ અવિરત થઇ રહ્યો છે. હાલમાં પણ ગુજરાત સાચી દિશામાં આગળ વધી રહ્યું છે.’ મંદીના સમયમાં રાજય અને કેન્દ્ર સરકારોએ કેવાં પગલાં ભરવાં જોઇએ તે વિશે કોઇ સુચનો કરવાનું તેમણે ટાળ્યું હતું. મંદીમાં ગરીબોને ઓછી અસર થાય તેવી રાજનીતી ઘડવા તેમણે સૂચન કર્યું હતું.
